July 26th PREMIER DIVISION NCCC Academy moved eleven points clear at the top of the Hevey Building Supplies NCL Premier Division, following a 44 run victory at Wollaston. Batting first, the Academy totalled 196 for 6 in their 55 overs. Ben Ackland top scored with 57 and Matthew Hicks added a very useful 46, whilst Wollaston's Steve Musgrave picked up 3 for 58 from 17 tidy overs. It was Musgrave who also featured most prominently with the bat making 61 and receiving good support from Jimmy Hart who made 37. The home side couldn't continue their recent good run of form though. Tom Brett took 4 for 28 from 13 overs and Jack Chopping finished with 3 for 35 as Wollaston were dismissed in the 50 over for 152. Peterborough Town have moved up to 2nd place thanks to a 46 run victory over bottom placed Stony Stratford. Waqas Chughtai made 58 and Ajaz Akhtar hit 45 as the Cambridgeshire side amassed 254 for 9 in 53 overs. Stony's Stuart Brandom will be delighted with his figures of 5 for 52 from 15 overs but the other bowlers were heavily punished. The visitors battled hard to save the game, but ultimately fell short as they were bowled out for 208 in the 49th over. Dion Ebrahim top scored again with 47, Simon Myatt also made 47 and Douglas Aris 36. But the Peterborough bowlers stuck to their task and Chughtai, Jamie Smith and Ruwan Pitigala all claimed three wickets to ensure the title race remains open. At Billing Road, the ON's hosted Finedon Dolben and it was the visitors who came away with the better of the draw. Finedon's total of 192 all out was built on a very solid 56 from Greg Evans, whilst John Wolstenholme bowled with good pace and control to take 4 for 43 from 11 overs. At 59 for 5 the ON's were staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat. But 54 from Martyn Cory steadied the ship and allowed the home side to close on 160 for 8 to claim 9 points to Finedon's 13. Robert Pack ended with figures of 3 for 39 whilst spin twin Andy Roberts took 3 for 49. Rushden and Rushton also shared the spoils in a high scoring match at Short Stocks. Rushden piled up an imposing 331 for 7 in their 55 overs. Mohammad Hussain was the Premier Division's only centurion making 105, whilst Darren Harrison scored 75 and Graeme White 44. Rushton used no fewer than eight bowlers in a vain bid to stem the flow of runs. In reply, the visitors closed on 246-6 thanks to 75 from Kieran Price and 43 from Marc Jackson. Rushden's Graeme White took 3 for 44 with his slow left arm spin. At Birchfield Road East the Saints were left frustrated by a stubborn Desborough batting performance which ensured the draw. Saints had made 291 for 7 declared in 53 overs with Alec Swann making 81, Chris Park 80 and Mark Nelson 66. For the visitors Ishtiaq Asghar took 2 for 18. Nadeem Hussain (52) and Nick Price (33) added 89 for the first wicket and provided the platform for Desborough to save the match. Ex Northants all-rounder Neil Stanley toiled away to end with 3 for 40 but on a flat wicket the possibility of bowling Desborough out proved a task too far. The Desborough innings closed on 213 for 6. Saints take 14 points to Desborough's 9 points. The game between Burton Latimer and Irthlingborough also ended in a draw a result that will see both sides pleased to end a long run of straight defeats. Burton batted first and made a very impressive 292 for 7 in the full 55 overs. Alan Sewell made 58, Daniel Bendon 55 and Scott Sanders 45 as Irthlingborough's bowlers were made to toil. Only Chandan Madan with 4 for 79 claimed any respect. It was Madan again who held Irthlingborough's innings together making 76 out of the visitor's total of 197 for 5. Andy Trott made a useful 40 while Burton's Andrew Reynoldson claimed 2 for 35. Burton take 13 points and Irthlingborough take 8. DIVISION THREE

_________________________________________________________ July 5th PREMIER ROUND-UP Scroll down for a list of results Finedon Dolben defeated the NCCC Academy by 9 wickets in the weekend's big fixture to move to within a point of the County youngsters at the top of the premier division table. The Academy were bowled out for 158 and it was Finedon's new ball pairing of Will Sneath and Chris Goode that did most of the damage. Sneath ended with figures of 4-38 and Goode picked up 3-69 to tear through the Academy's top order. Only David Willey offered any resistance. The young left hander impressed with 86 and veteran David Ripley added some useful late runs to give the total a modicum of respectability. Finedon's batsman were in no mood to let a winning opportunity slip though. Chris Todd top scored with 58 whilst Greg Evans and John Mcloughlin were both undefeated on 55 and 43 respectively. The result leaves the Academy top by a single point from Finedon, with both sides having won 8 matches at the half way stage. _______________________________ Peterborough Town are in third place and only 11 points adrift following their victory at Wollaston. Waqas Chughtai helped himself to 6 wickets as the home side were restricted to 163-9 in their 55 overs. The Pakistani opening bowler found some considerable assistance in the wicket which offered pace, bounce and seam movement. Simon Driver top scored for Wollaston with 34 and other members of the tail also provided useful contributions with the bat. Peterborough were grateful to Cameron Wake for getting them over the finishing line for the loss of 6 wickets. The former Durham University student made an unbeaten 65 to hold the innings together. Good support came from Alan Burton who made 38 whilst Steve Musgrave and Chris Perry both took 2 wickets. ____________________ The Old Northamptonians enjoyed their seventh win of the season with a comfortable 5 wicket victory over struggling Burton Latimer at Billing Road. The visitors were in deep trouble at 23-3 before Tim Laws stepped up to the plate smashing 120 from only 98 balls in an innings which comprised fifteen fours and four sixes to lead his side to 201 all out. Pace merchant Ross McLean was in fine form for the home side taking 5-71 from 14 hostile overs. The ON's achieved the required total for the loss of five wickets and with seven overs to spare. Dale Iniff top scored with 75 whilst Charles Swallow made his half century and Richard Ingman stroked 36. For the visitors, Josh Scully ended with 3-38 from 9 overs but Burton have now lost their last seven league fixtures and will be hoping for a much improved run of form going into the second half of the season. ______________________________ Rushden Town have no such worries as they cantered to a 7 wicket home victory over bottom Club Stony Stratford. Stony elected to bat first and made a positive start with Nick Allen and Graeme Carter adding 73 for the first wicket. However, following the departure of Allen for 31, things quickly went downhill. Mudasser Hussain snared 5-20 from 17 overs and County slow left arm bowler Graeme White took 4-46 as the visitors were bowled out for 161. Darren Harrison (51) and Graeme White (33) then set the platform for victory by putting on 84 for the first wicket, before Hussain completed a fine allround performance with an undefeated 36. The win maintains Rushden's position in the top five and leaves Stony rock bottom. _________________________ Northampton Saints recorded their second consecutive victory with a crushing 8 wicket defeat of Irthlingborough at Birchfield Road East. Indian Chandan Madan once again starred for the visitors making 51 out of his side's total of 160-9. Brent Findlay took 3-43 and former first class bowler Richard Stemp took 3-19 to give the Saints a very average total to chase. Mark Nelson then proved that last week's century was no fluke as he crashed four sixes and five fours in his 50 and Chris Park also made an undefeated half century as the Saints took just 33.4 overs to reach their total and move above Irthlingborough in the table. ___________________ The day's other game saw Desborough travel to Rushton and it was the visitors who emerged victorious by 3 wickets in a high scoring affair. Rushton made 260 in their 55 overs, thanks largely to Kieran Price's 85 and 56 from Sheldon Kearns. Terry Butt toiled away for 17 overs to end with 5-88 and Mohammad Irshad picked up 3-38 from his 17 very tight overs. Former Horton player Gurjeet Sapal then paved the way for Desborough's impressive win with a stylish 89, whilst Mahmood Ali top scored with 92. Desborough eventually got over the finishing line with 3 overs to spare. For Rushton, Marc Jackson and Ben Williamson both took 2 wickets apiece. PREMIER RESULTS Pts Pts

JUNE 28th PREMIER ROUND-UPThe Northants CCC Academy and Stony Stratford shared 676 runs in a carnal riot of endless boundaries which saw the County youngsters eventually secure victory by just 8 runs. David Murphy smashed an unbeaten 189 and shared in an opening stand worth 275 with Ben Howgego who made 97. Nathan Hawkes then hit 40 from 16 balls, as no mercy was shown to the home team's bowlers. The Academy declared their innings after 45 overs having made 342-1. Stony made a spirited reply which as usual centred around their overseas player - Dion Ebrahim. Ebrahim made 125 and received good support from Douglas Aris who made 50. However, just when it looked as though a shock result was on the cards, Tom Brett stepped in with 4-88 from 17 overs to give the visitors maximum points. Bradley Kruger and David Willey both took 2 wickets as Stony's resistance was finally broken in the 64th over all out for 334. At Avenue Road, Finedon Dolben enjoyed their seventh victory of the season defeating Rushton by 8 wickets. Chris Goode bowled with great consistency to end with figures of 4-48, whilst Will Sneath and Andy Roberts both took 3 wickets each. Kieran Pierce, Sheldon Kearns, Bradley Armer and Marcus Stead all got into their 30's but none went on to make a big score as the visitors were all out for 179. The League Champions made light work of reaching their target as Greg Evans with 71 and Jonathan Dunne with 56 ensured victory with 5 overs to spare. Finedon remain in second place behind the Academy. Wollaston have moved off the bottom following their first win of the season over Desborough. Desborough made 228-7 from the full 55 overs. Mahmood Ali top scored with 58 and the ever dependable Gurjeet Sapal made a useful 45. Wollaston's Harmit Bahra took 4-38 from 11 overs. In response, openers Matthew Jones (70) and Steve Musgrave (68) gave the visitors the perfect platform on which to build their victory charge. Jimmy Hart and Mark Ralph then made 28 and 26 respectively to see their team home by 5 wickets with just a couple of balls to spare. For Desborough, Terry Butt toiled manfully to end with figures of 2-35 from 17 overs. Peterborough Town have gone back above the Old Northamptonians into third place following a comfortable 6 wicket victory at Bretton Gate. The ON's struggled to build any significant partnerships throughout their innings and closed on 151-9. Billing Road legends Tim Marriott and Richard Ingman both made 30's, but three wickets each for Ajaz Akhtar and Jamie Smith gave the home side a stranglehold on proceedings. Ruwan Pitigala ensured an early night for all smashing eight 4's and two 6's in a rapid 59 and Alan Burton and Cameron Wake provided steady support as Town maintained their title aspirations. Northampton Saints will be hoping their 41 run victory over Burton Latimer can kick-start their season and see them start to threaten the leaders. The Saints were able to sit back and admire their opener's efforts as 239 runs were added for the first wicket. Mark Nelson made 126 and Richard Ashton stroked an aesthetically pleasing 89 as the visitors stormed to 290-3 declared in 48 overs. Burton made a brave response with Stephen Ludlum hitting 54 and Andrew Reynoldson making 39. However, the tail didn't wag and the home side were finally dismissed for 249 in the 57th over. Brent Findlay with 3-40, together with two wickets apiece for Richard Stemp and Chris Harris helped to give the Saints only their second win of the season and move above their opponents. The day's other game saw Rushden continue their good form in beating Irthlingborough by 2 wickets. Irthlingborough had their overseas player Chandan Madan to thank for many of the highlights of their display. Firstly, Madan made 96 in Irthlingborough's 190 all out. Martin Hills also contributed with 34. Rushden's overseas star Aqab Ahmed also shone. He picked up 4-39 whilst fellow pro Graeme White ended with 3-46. Ahmed and White then also scored the lion's share of the runs to give Rushden a narrow victory. White opened the innings and scored 45 before Ahmed, coming in at number 8, hit an unbeaten 52 to see the visitors home. Madan ended with figures of 3-30 and Chris De-With also bagged 3 wickets but it wasn't to be their day. RESULTS:

Finedon Dolben remain top of the Hevey Building Supplies NCL Premier Division, following a comfortable six wicket victory at Wollaston. Will Sneath claimed three early wickets as Wollaston were reduced to 19-5. Steve Musgrave with 37 and Chris Perry with 24 gave the Wollaston innings a semblance of respectability, but Robert Pack's three wickets ended matters in the 45 over with the total on just 111. Any expectations of a comfortable victory for the visitors were soon dashed as they collapsed to 5-3. But Jonathan Dunne's 54 scored at more than a run per ball, took Finedon past the winning post. Dunne received good support from Primesh Patel who was unbeaten on 39. Musgrave will have been satisfied with his day's work - ending with figures of 3-50. The Academy closed the gap at the top to just one point after they took maximum points from their game at Burton Latimer. Batting first, the Academy made 243-9 thanks to a century stand from David Murphy (83) and Nathan Hawkes (54). For the home side, Daniel Bendon took 5-43. Andrew Reynoldson gave Burton a solid start making 56 and Bendon completed an impressive all-round display with 39. Sadly, none of the other batsmen turned up and they went from 78-1 to 120 all out. Tom Brett took 5-24 and Bradley Kruger 3-32 to keep the County youngsters on Finedon's heels. In the local derby, the ON's emerged victorious from their game at home to Northampton Saints. The Saints were invited to bat first and made 168 all out in 51.4 overs. Mark Nelson fell just one short of a half century and there were useful contributions down the order from spin twins Michael Davis (34) and Richard Stemp (30). For the home side, Tim Marriott claimed 4-34. The irrepressible Richard Ingman then hit eight 4's in his belligerent half century, whilst Shaun DeKock contributed 37. David Willey showed good maturity to finish unbeaten on 30 and see his side home by 5 wickets. For the Saints, Michael Davis finished with 3-39. Peterborough missed the chance to stay in touch with the leaders, after losing at home to Rushden by 39 runs. Rushden's total of 201-7 in the full 55 overs didn't look to be enough. Mohammad Hussain scored 63 and Tim Lake 41 whilst the ever threatening Waqas Chughtai bowled 17 overs and took 3-64. Asim Butt was in great form with the bat once again smashing 45 and youngster David Clarke chipped in with 30 but the innings faltered in light of some fine bowling from Mudasser Hussain (5-55) and Graeme White (3-24). Peterborough were eventually dismissed for 162 and now find themselves in fourth place, whilst Rushden climb up to 5th. At Irthlingborough, the home side were missing their Captain & inspiration Neil White and Rushton took full advantage to secure maximum points with victory by 173 runs. Marcus Steed was the star of the show scoring 70 in Rushton's total of 283-5. Kieran Price and Julian Darby both made 50. Steed then took 5-14 to leave Irthlingborough reeling. Only Andy Trott with an unbeaten 49 showed any mettle before Ben Williamson cleaned out the tail with three wickets in two overs. The day's other game was a high scoring affair with both sides having to settle for a draw. Desborough batted first and made 310-6 thanks to a splendid 92 from Gurjeet Sapal and 87 from Shahid Siddiq. For Stony Stratford, Peter Mitchell took 3-59. In reply, Stony finished on 240-8. Dion Ebrahim glued the whole innings together with an unbeaten 108 and Graeme Carter made a steady 32. For the visitors, Mohammad Irshad finished with 3-62. Stony take 10 points and Desborough take 15. DIVISION 3

The NCCC Academy held their nerve to complete a thrilling 1 wicket victory over Northampton Saints at the County Ground. Batting first, the Saints had struggled to a total of 183 all out from 55 overs. Former County Player Richard Ashton had held the Saints innings together with 41 and received good support from Chris Park (also ex-Northants) who made 30. For the Academy, Matthew Hicks took 4-25. The hosts also struggled and were 34-3 at one stage with Ackland, Arthurton and Wakely all going cheaply. Nathan Hawkes made 42 to put the Academy back in charge, before an undefeated 46 from Daniel Bendon saw the County youngsters home by the slimmest of margins. For the Saints, Brent Findlay toiled hard to finish with figures of 4-36. The win means the Academy remain top of the league, whilst the Saints remain in the bottom half. Still hot on the Academy's heels are the Old Northamptonians who were in top form for their game at Rushton. Batting first, the ON's made a more than impressive 329-4 declared from 54 overs. George Arblaster was once again in the runs - making 76, whilst Tom Worthington (71), Dale Iniff (70), Shaun De Cock (58) and Richard Ingman (48) all showed no mercy to the opposition bowling attack. Rushton's reply never really materialised and although Martin Roberts made 43 and Jamie Smith showed a stubborn streak with 33 not out, the ON's emerged victorious by 142 runs. Gareth Sharp and Ross McClean did most of the damage, taking three wickets apiece. The ON's must now be considered serious contenders for this season's title and will hope to be able to continue their terrific early season form. Reigning Champions Finedon Dolben clearly won't be letting their title go without a fight though, as they cruised to a five wicket victory in their home fixture with Burton Latimer. Burton's total of 138 was never realistically going to prove enough as Finedon's spin twins Rob Pack & Andy Roberts shared 7 wickets for just 19 runs. Only Tim Laws with 47 can take any pride from his batting performance. Dolben's Bradley Kruger (40) and Greg Evans (36) ensured there would be no upset, whilst Josh Scully took 3-53 for the visitors. Peterborough Town missed the chance to remain within touching distance of the leaders, as Desborough held on to earn a draw. Alan Brown with 51 and David Clarke with 55 posted a century opening stand for the Cambridgeshire side, before a typically belligerent 43 from Asim Butt took the innings total to 256-8 from the full 55 overs. Mohammed Irshad took 4-65 for Desborough, who may well have expected the visitors to declare their innings early. It didn't happen and despite a top score of just 27 from Nick Price, Desborough refused to roll over and closed their innings on 170-9. Jamie Smith took 3-27 for Peterborough who will be hoping their lack of adventure doesn't cost them come the end of the season. Wollaston's woes continued as they were hammered by Rushden. Batting first, Rushden recovered from 11-2 to post 284-5 in 55 overs. Arif Javed (136) and Mohammad Hussain (126*) shared a third wicket stand of 253 as the Wollaston attack was put to the sword. Only Chris Perry with 3-34 was able to derive any satisfaction from his bowling performance. Wollaston were then dismissed for just 88, thanks to a terrific spell from Mudasser Hussain who took 6-33. Unless Wollaston can find a couple of quality players to bolster their squad very quickly, it would appear that their term in the top flight will be short lived. At Stony Stratford, the Buckinghamshire side entertained Irthlingborough Town and it was the visitors who emerged victorious, thanks largely to a century from opener Martin Hills. Hills stroked 127 including 19 fours and 3 sixes as Irthlingborough racked up 282-6. Simon Myatt took 4-84 and was one of seven bowlers used by Stony. The home side's reply faltered as they slipped to 39-3, before Douglas Aris with 45 and Peter Mitchell with 38 restored some pride. It wasn't enough though, and thanks to 3-43 from Neil White and 2 wickets for Chris De Wit, Irthlingborough secured their second victory of the summer by 104 runs.

And it was the visitors who came out with a most creditable draw, after they had been invited to bat by their hosts.George Arblaster's 57 was the highest score in the match, whilst good support came from Shaun DeCock with 46 as the ON's made 237-7 in their allotted overs. For Finedon, James Lord took 3-58 and Chris Goode continued his excellent form, picking up 2-50. Finedon's opening pair Gary Herbert and Greg Evans gave the champions the perfect platform from which to mount their victory charge. Herbert made 43 and Evans 31 in a 65 run opening partnership. But thereafter, the innings stalled in the face of some fine bowling. Ross McClean (pictured above) took 2-36 as Finedon were restricted to 196-6 from their 55 overs. The ON's take 14 points from the match and Finedon take 8 points. League leaders Peterborough Town showed no signs of jet lag following their journey to Stony Stratford. Batting first, the Cambridgeshire side made 314-4 in just 50 overs. Asim Butt can seldom have batted better smashing five 6's and sixteen 4's in his 133 which came off just 88 balls. Alan Burton also helped himself to a century making 121 as these two players shared a partnership worth 213 runs. Credit must go to the home side though as they fought back to post 272-7 in their 60 overs. Skipper Dion Ebrahim made a patient unbeaten 83 and Steve Wharton's 56 at the top of the order showed what could be achieved if the correct application was shown. For Town, Bashrat Hussain picked up 2-44 and Waqas Chughtai took 2-96. Peterborough take 14 points from the match to Stony's 9. At Desborough, Northampton Saints kick-started their season with a very comfortable 10 wicket victory. Shahid Siddiq made 58 and Barbar Raja 32, but later the home side toiled against some splendid slow bowling from their opponents. Former Northants player Michael Davies took 5-38 and received good support from both Richard Stemp and Neil Stanley as Desborough folded to 153 all out. The Saints wasted no time in reaching their total, getting there in just 31 overs. Alec Swann oozed class, making 87 not out, whilst Geoff Jackson played the traditional anchor role but still reached his half-century. The win lifts the Saints out of the bottom three, but leaves Desborough just 4 points clear of bottom place. The Academy secured their second victory of the season over a beleaguered Wollaston side at Campbell Park. Batting first, Wollaston made 183-7 from their 55 overs. David Mercer top scored with 64 whilst Liam Bates chipped in with a useful 34. There were no prizes for spotting the pick of the Academy bowlers. He may only have come on third change, but Daniel Bendon tore through the Wollaston line up, taking 6-42 from 16 overs. An unbeaten 91 from David Murphy then ensured there was to be no upset as the County youngsters got home by 6 wickets. Bradley Kruger helped himself to 32, whilst for Wollaston Simon Driver bowled steadily to claim 2-35. There was no doubting the man of the match in the Irthlingborough vs Burton Latimer game. Andy Trott scored 51 and then took 3-43 with the ball, but it was all in vain as Burton left with a hard fought victory. The home side were limited to just 159 all out as Luke Styman proved too hot taking 3-32 with only Trott offering any form of resistance. But Burton were forced to scrap for every run as first Trott and then Chandan Madan with 2-40 tried to set up an unlikely victory. Tim Laws top scored for Burton with just 29 but similar contributions right down the order ensured the visitors secured their second win of the season. In the day's other game, Rushton made home advantage count and continued their impressive start to 2008 with a winning draw against a strong Rushden outfit. The home side notched up 260-8 in the full 55 overs. Marc Jackson led the way with 78, sharing in a 103 run partnership with Sheldon Kearns who made 67. For Rushden, on-loan County left arm slow bowler Graeme White finished with 4-74. The visitors reply got off to the worst possible start as they slumped to 10-3 and then 22-4. However, an unbeaten 54 from Gareth Griffiths and 51 from Arif Javed helped to secure the draw as Rushden held on to close on 218-9. For Rushton there were three wickets apiece for Marc Jackson, Marcus Steed and Mehul Adatia.

__________________________________________________________________________ MAY 3rd In the day's big game, Northampton Saints took on reigning champions Finedon Dolben at Birchfield Road East and it was the visitors who emerged victorious, thanks to a devastating spell of bowling from their captain Chris Goode. Goode came home with figures of 8-36 from 14 overs as the Saints were bowled out for a less than impressive 119. Only Richard Aston (33) and Geoff Jackson (32) offered any resistance to the onslaught. John McLoughlin's unbeaten 56 ensured Finedon got home by 5 wickets and ex-Horton man Gary Herbert chipped in with a stylish 23. The win makes Finedon favourites to retain their title, whilst the Saints will be looking to bounce straight back when they travel to Desborough next week. Also making their title credentials known are the Old Northamptonians who thrashed Stony Stratford by 216 runs at Billing Road. Shaun DeKock smashed 121 from only 114 balls before David Willey picked up the challenge, hitting seven fours and a six in an entertaining 69. Stony's bowlers were made to toil and only Peter Mitchell with 3-67 and Mihir Choksi with 3-64 salvaged any pride. It was Willey again who confirmed his obvious potential taking 3-26 with the new ball as the visitors slumped to just 84 all out. Ross McLean was also in the wickets, taking 2-18. The result leaves the ON's in second place and next week's game at Finedon will be a true test of just how far this exciting young side have progressed since last season. Peterborough Town continue to set the pace at the top of the league, following a very comfortable 71 run home win over Irthlingborough Town. David Clarke was once more in the runs, making 55 and receiving good support from the middle order as made a respectable 202-8 from their 55 overs. Chandan Madan worked hard for his wickets, finishing with 4-45 whilst the ever dependable Neil White took 3-50. Waqas Chughtai struck twice in the opening overs to leave Irthlingborough reeling, but Madan & White soon recovered the innings, making 49 and 35 respectively. However, with these two out, Irthlingborough had little else to offer and Chughtai ended with figures of 5-36 and Bashrat Hussain claimed 4-30 as the visitors folded to 131 all out. Next week, Peterborough travel to struggling Stony Stratford and will be hoping to stretch their lead at the top. At Short Stocks, Rushden and Desborough were involved in a keenly fought contest and it was the home side who claimed victory by 64 runs. Having been asked to bat, Rushden notched up 241 all out in their 55 overs. Mohammed Hussain top scored with 55, whilst Graeme White added a useful 44. For Desborough, Tariq Murtaza took 4-73. The visitors made a positive response with Shahid Siddiq scoring 53 and Gurjeet Sapal 33 to set up an unlikely victory. Rushden's pace ace Aqab Ahmed had other ideas though and his 6-31 from 12 overs left the Desborough innings in tatters as they were bowled out in the 46th over for 177. Wollaston must be fearing a long season ahead as they succumbed to a second consecutive defeat, this time at the hands of Burton Latimer. Wollaston skipper Harmit Bahra won the toss & invited Burton to bat first. Greig Hofbauer with 66 steered the innings to a competitive total of 201-9 from the full 55 overs. Tim Laws chipped in with a useful 44 whilst for Wollaston, Chris Perry was rewarded for his efforts with figures of 6-74. Any prospect of a home victory was soon dismissed thanks to the efforts of young duo Daniel Bendon and Luke Styman. Bendon picked up 4-15 and Styman 3-16 as the Wollaston innings crumbled to just 89 all out. Only Nick Shelton with 22 showed any stomach for the fight. In the day's other game, Rushton continued their impressive start to the new season with a hard earned winning draw against the Academy at Campbell Park. Rushton were dismissed for 175 but then restricted the County youngsters to just 121-7. Mark Neave was again the key to Rushton's success, taking 4 wickets in a spell of supreme flight and guile. NCCC Academy 121-7 (7pts) drew with Rushton 175-10 (12pts) Northampton Saints 119-10 (2pts) lost against Finedon Dolben 120-5 (25pts) by 5 wkts Old Northamptonians 300-8 (30pts) beat Stony Stratford 84-10 (4pts) by 216 runs Peterborough 202-8 (29pts) beat Irthlingborough Town 131-10 (5pts) by 71 runs Rushden 241 all out (30pts) beat Desborough 177 all out (8pts) by 64 runs Wollaston 89-10 (4pts) lost against Burton Latimer 201-9 (29pts) by 112 runs
