LIAM
BATES
Right Hand Bat
A hugely
talented player, Liam has yet to turn his undoubted ability into consistent run
scoring. When he does however, the record books could be rewritten. With strokes
all round the wicket and an excellent eye, Liam's timing is the envy of others.
Part of the 2007 championship winning side, Bates could not regain his place in
after a holiday (his girlfriend said he had to go) but his irrepressible form in
the 2nd team meant his absence was short lived. An assured 30 in the final game
when the pressure was on and a 50 against Weekley meant he ended the season more
confidently that he had begun. Able to bat anywhere in the top 6, his correct
technique should mean he will end up as an opener. Liam is very strong off his
legs, sweeps well and fields exceptionally.
Presently a University student studying Sports Science, Liam is a qualified Gym
instructor, is a fan of Motor sports and animated movies, once missing a game to
catch the latest instalment of the Shrek trilogy.
